Utrecht 6 May 2021 – The Cube in Utrecht, a design by Team V and a joint development by Van Wijnen and Rockfield Real Estate and investment by International Campus Group has today received the award for ‘best building architecture’ in the coliving awards.
The Cube is designed as two stepped fifteen-storey towers with two openwork cut-outs that bring air and activity to the façade. The design is in line with Healthy Urban Living: the ambition of the municipality of Utrecht, which focuses on a healthy lifestyle and mutual connection. This is reflected, among other things, in the stepped outdoor terraces and various sports facilities such as a bootcamp track and gym. They invite students to a healthy, active and social lifestyle. Large windows with French balconies, collective roof gardens and a pleasant courtyard provide a bright and healthy living environment. The public spaces in the plinth, such as the restaurant with learning company and the coffee bar with study landscape and build a bridge between the students and the current tenants of Overvecht.
