Location, area and living
Osdorpplein is developing into the urban center for the New-West district and will be an inviting area for living, working and strolling. L. van Sonsbeeckstreet 6 & 7 are part of this area which is developing into an urban center with a total development volume of approximately 195,000 m2 gross floor area. The current buildings at the L. van Sonsbeeckstraat 6 & 7 consist of a company residence and adjoining business premises which served KPN’s business operations until July 2023. Discussions are currently underway with the municipality for a zoning change to approximately 12,000 m2 gross floor area (GFA), of which approximately 11,500 m2 GFA (about 170 apartments) is intended for ‘residential’ and approximately 500 m2 GFA for ‘non-residential’. The expected start of construction is scheduled for Q4 2024 and in the meantime the existing building will be temporarily used by the social organization Studio Osdorperban, a design studio for and by young people from the neighborhood.
