Nieuwdok is located on the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam-Noord, a former industrial estate that has grown into a creative and vibrant city district in recent years. Known for its raw, industrial character, the area is a lively mix of living, working and recreation. With its location on the IJ, Nieuwdok offers direct access to the centre of Amsterdam via the ferry and various bus connections. The transformation of the NDSM werf is an important part of the urban redevelopment of Amsterdam-Noord, with sustainability and multifunctionality at its core.
The project comprises 380 self-contained student apartments, ranging from 21 to 36 square metres. The fully furnished flats are designed for efficient use of space and equipped with modern conveniences. Students also have access to shared facilities, such as bicycle storage and laundry rooms, contributing to a practical and comfortable living environment. The residences are specially designed for students, which is reflected in the practical layout.
Sustainability is a core value of the Nieuwdok project. Designed with a focus on energy efficiency, the building features high-quality façade insulation and sustainable building materials such as brick and concrete. Green features, including façade planting, contribute to a pleasant living environment and promote ecological sustainability. The building meets the latest requirements for energy efficiency and noise comfort.
Nieuwdok offers self-contained, fully furnished student accommodation rented out by partner DUWO. The project has shared facilities such as bicycle storage and laundry rooms. Besides the student houses, the project contains a primary school and a gymnasium, contributing to a lively and multifunctional environment.
