Location and area

Cobana is part of the redevelopment of Katendrecht, an iconic neighbourhood in Rotterdam with a rich industrial history. Located on Brede Hilledijk, the project occupies a unique location on the harbour, surrounded by historic buildings such as the Codrico factory and the Maassilo, which served as inspiration for Cobana’s robust design. The neighbourhood is known for its raw, urban character, which mainly attracts young professionals looking for an authentic living environment. Pols Katendrecht is transforming into a lively live/work district, with Cobana playing an important role as a modern, urban residence that reflects the port’s past.

Living

The Cobana building comprises 375 flats ranging from 40 to 75 sqm, as well as 33 FRIENDS apartments of 100 sqm. This diverse mix of homes offers both individual and shared living options, ideal for city residents who opt for the co-living model. The ‘FRIENDS’ properties are specially designed for residents who want to share spaces with friends or other like-minded individuals, promoting shared living enjoyment. The tall residential towers of 51 and 60 metres also offer spectacular views over the harbour and the city, while the large windows and balconies provide plenty of natural light.

Sustainability

Cobana responds to the need for sustainable and efficient urban housing such as a green roof garden and high isolation value. The co-living concept encourages shared use of facilities, reducing both costs and residents’ carbon footprint. Common areas such as roof terraces, shared kitchens, and the gym contribute to the shared character of the living environment. In addition, shared cars and shared scooters are available, allowing residents to move around the city flexibly and sustainably without the need for their own vehicle.

Living concept

The Cohesion co-living concept is at the heart of Cobana. This innovative housing model responds to the growing demand for social and affordable urban living. It is expected that half of the Dutch population will be single by 2050, and Cobana offers a solution by creating a community where residents share spaces and facilities together. Besides their own flats, residents can use a wide range of facilities, including a co-working space, living room and a gym.

Social events such as cooking workshops, sports activities and movie nights are organised regularly, strengthening the community and allowing residents to actively participate in Cobana life. This mix of shared facilities and social activities fits seamlessly with the concept of The Cohesion and fosters a sense of belonging among residents.
